Throwback Thursday-our alternative wedding

Throwback Thursday to when we got married in 2014

My Sister in law was the Best Woman, my brother was a bridesman, and I had 2 Bridesmaids. He took my name and I took his, which is lovely because it was his suggestion, not mine.

From the start I knew we were going to do things our own way. Our wedding story began after a sort of mutual proposal at a festival- we'd had a bit of a whirlwind relationship and decided if we were going to be taken seriously we'd have to have some of the details locked down, before we announced our engagement!

I'd seen the Anglers rest in a colleagues pictures and though it was just gorgeous. So we decided to head on down for a meal there and see what we thought. We loved the vibe there, cosy rustic chic, log fires and chandeliers.

We knew this was the right fit for us as a couple, and for our winter wedding. Before we left we had booked ourselves in for the ceremony and reception there-and we didn't even have a Celebrant! We were given the number for the Spiritual Union of Ireland, and I remember us pulling over on the way home to call and see if this was even possible on the day we wanted it. Thankfully it was and we were put in touch with a lovely Celebrant called Vanessa, who was available to marry us on the same day.

I'd seen the work of a photographer that I liked and she was available too for the day. One of my concerns was that I didn't feel like a typical bride, and I really don't like any cheesy stuff or forced smiles and poses in wedding pictures and her style was a little alternative so that worked for us and we loved our pictures.

I've spent many years in the Arts, and I graduated from Photography and Digital imaging in NCAD. I approach my photography from the perspective of someone who has been there- someone who wants something a little bit alternative. I have something unique to offer- I'm really good at understanding my clients as a couple, and seeing them and their celebration from my own artistic perspective. There are so many incredible and unique venues out there now where you can get married and have your reception all in the one space. The choice is really yours to create your day your way. I hope to meet and be able to help many more like minded couples as they begin their married adventures together!
